TRIPP YOUNG – Power Lifting
Tripp earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages (French and Russian) from the University of New Mexico. He is currently a PhD candidate in Classics at Duke University. He is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and holds the CrossFit Powerlifting Certification.

Tripp played for a nationally ranked high school football team, and was a multi-sport athlete during high school. He served in the U.S. Army for 5+ years, where he flirted briefly with endurance sports, and became particularly fond of ruck marches. After the Army, he became somewhat dispirited and bored working out alone at Globo gyms until a former high school teammate, and NFL player, recommended that he try CrossFit.

Tripp has been part of CrossFit Durham since the day it opened. He has been especially inspired by the communal and competitive nature of CrossFit, aspects of fitness that had driven him both as a football player, and as a soldier. Tripp believes that CrossFit’s greatest contributions to the fitness world are reviving the lost art of barbell training and championing the idea that hard work—not fad diets, magic weight-loss pills, or celebrity-sponsored workout routines—will achieve results. He loves helping others discover the value of hard work and the lessons of the “Iron”.
